Mentoring is an excellent way to nurture encouragement, growth, learning and upskilling. This empowers students and early careerists to perform best in their role and to progress further in their career. At NALHE, we believe that leadership mentoring for Latino, Latina, and Multicultural professionals will advance and transform diversity in leadership within our industry.

NALHE’s La Mesa Emerging Leaders Program provides an important and safe platform to convene and connect diverse leaders with NALHE student and early careerist members from across the country to share their experiences and knowledge—to give back, guide and support those who have the interest and potential to advance to executive suite positions.

Yes. If you’re not a member, please JOIN NOW prior to applying – (select “Special Membership Offer” as the Member Option & select your Local Chapter location).

It is a cohort-structured leadership development & mentorship program that provides a safe space for thought leadership, sharing of experiences, exchange of knowledge, connections, networking and open discussion with diverse featured speakers from across the country. In addition, La Mesa also provides conversation on leadership books and authors.

This program was created to encourage exploratory conversations, career paths, addressing of career obstacles & development of the future leaders in healthcare. The program aims to augment member competencies & experiences through relevant learning opportunities aligned with NALHE’S STRATEGIC PRIORITIES

Leadership Competencies, Navigating Difficult Conversations, Mental Health, Emotional Intelligence, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Assessing the Imposter Syndrome, Pivoting Your Career Path, Resume Optimization, Communication, Interviewing Skills to mention a few.

6 Months – March through August.

First meeting is March 1st, 2022 & last meeting is August 16th, 2022. Note, an additional meeting may be held for program completion/closing ceremony.

NALHE membership, attendance, engagement, and 1 community service event. Community service events will be virtual and in person if situation permits. Events will be announced during the program.

Biweekly for 1 hour meetings, 1st & 3rd Tuesday of the month.

The NALHE La Mesa Emerging Leaders Program Cohort has capacity for 25 Mentees.

No. You’re more than welcome to join a committee within your NALHE Chapter or other NALHE activities & programs based on your personal interests and time. Please note the time commitment of the NALHE La Mesa Emerging Leaders Program.

Acceptances will be announced via email two weeks after the application deadline which has been extended to February 18th, 2022.
