Erica Hattery
Chapter Board Member Director of Care Integration, Population Health Harris Health System
Erica Gonzalez Hattery, MD, MHA, is a physician and healthcare executive with over fifteenyears of academic, research, and clinical experience, with an emphasis on diabetes research and programs. She completed her post-doctoral fellowship in the Department of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at Baylor College of Medicine and served as Co-investigator and Project Manager for various nationwide clinical trials, including the GRADE Study and the first Center for Atypical Diabetes, bringing in more than $30 million in research funding. She has been instrumental in ensuring the inclusion of minorities and Hispanic populations in research studies.
In her most recent role as Director of Care Integration at Harris Health System in Houston, she focused on improving patient health outcomes through early identification of high-risk populations, disease prevention, and community outreach. Her efforts aim at optimizing early medical interventions and addressing social determinants of health in vulnerable populations affected by chronic conditions such as diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular disease.
Dr. Hattery also serves as an advisor at the Texas Medical Center Innovation, where she helps advance the work of health tech startups. Additionally, she works as a health tech consultant, devising opportunities for the implementation of technology in healthcare delivery. Her interests in improving care and making healthcare efficient and accessible to all populations drive her contributions in these roles.
Her business acumen and passion for innovation and scientific advancement position her as an agent of change, strengthening participation in the healthcare community. Dr. Hattery envisions a collaborative network of leaders working together to create change and promote progress at both local and national levels. She completed her medical degree at Universidad El Bosque in Bogota, Colombia, and a master’s in healthcare administration from Texas Woman’s University.
