Sarah R. Rodriguez-Shotland, MHA, is a dedicated healthcare professional and advocate for improving access to care, particularly for New Mexicans and Latinx communities in the United States. She has a diverse background in the healthcare field, which shaped her passion for medicine and commitment to making a positive impact.

Sarah has over three years of clinical experience as a phlebotomist, gaining firsthand knowledge of patient care and the importance of efficient and effective healthcare delivery. Additionally, she pursued an education in the medical field, spending time in physician assistant school and acquiring EMT-B training. These experiences deepened her understanding of healthcare systems and fueled her desire to address healthcare disparities.

Currently, Sarah serves as the founder and President of NAHLE NM (National Association of Hispanic Latino Executives in Healthcare – New Mexico), where she runs and facilitates sessions to promote healthcare leadership among Latinx professionals. Through this role, she is dedicated to fostering growth, diversity, equity, and inclusion in healthcare leadership spaces.
In addition to her role at NAHLE NM, Sarah works full-time as a Program Coordinator for Project ECHO at the University of New Mexico on the New Mexico Teams. Project ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) is an innovative model that aims to expand access to specialty healthcare knowledge and support primary care providers in managing complex cases. In her role, Sarah contributes to coordinating and facilitating sessions, ensuring healthcare professionals receive the necessary support and resources to deliver high-quality care.
Sarah recently graduated with a Master’s in Healthcare Administration (MHA) from the University of New Mexico. In addition, her academic achievements were recognized, and she is a member of prestigious honor societies, including Phi Kappa Phi, Golden Key, and Phi Alpha Alpha, which honor outstanding academic performance.
Looking forward, Sarah aims to continue working towards improving the quality and accessibility of healthcare for minority populations, with a particular focus on Latinx communities. She is deeply passionate about promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in healthcare leadership spaces, recognizing the importance of representation and culturally responsive care.
